Barbara Jean Bechtel
July 8, 1928 — May 18, 2012

Barbara Jean Bechtel 83 a long time resident of Almont passed away
Friday, May 18, 2012 at Cambridge South Health Care Center of
Beverly Hills. She was born July 8, 1928 in Pontiac the daughter
of Frank and Martha (Shively) Rider. She married Howard Bechtel
August 11, 1943. Barbara was very active in the D.A.R., the First
Congregational Church and the Community Hospital Auxiliary Board.
She was an amazing seamstress and loved her flower gardens.
She is
survived by her loving daughters; Randa (William) Widdows of
Almont, Alice (David) Funk of Emmett, Vernice Bigger of Imlay
City, Audrey Rife of Spring, TX, Victoria (Brian) Richardson of
Almont, Gloria Lafraniere of New Baltimore and Janet (Michael)
DiFazio of Milford, grandchildren; Julie Widdows, Renee (James)
Wadall, Jennifer (Jim) Lieshman, Laura Funk, Martha (Patrick) Witham,
Michelle (Donald) Ostrum, Barbara (Andrew) Ball, Howard Lafraniere,
Rebecca Richardson, John Lafraniere, Kathi Jean Lafraniere, Sara
Rife and Kimberly DiFazio, great-grandchildren; Sheila and Trevor
Wadall, Emma and Derek Lieshman, Aiden and Brennen Witham and
Zachary, Wyatt and AlexisOstrom. Also surviving are one sister
Donna (Gerald) Scott and sister-in-law Regina Bechtel, several
nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her
parents, her beloved husband Howard, daughter June Marie, sisters
Phyllis, Evelyn, and Lois; brothers in law Ernest, Edward, Jim and
David and son-in-law John Lafraniere.
Memorials may
be made to the Almont First Congregational Church. A special
thank you to the caring staff at Cambridge South of Beverly Hills.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 3-9pm at Muir
Brothers Funeral Home in Almont. Funeral services, Wednesday at
11am at the First Congregational Church Pastor Keith Langley will
officiate. Burial will follow at Almont-Hough Cemetery. To sign

MessageI just found of about the loss of Barbara,I would have came to pay my respect, had I found out sooner. Me and Barbara had such a wonderful relationship together, she was more than a resident to me. She was like another mother and a friend too, we would laugh together,cry encourage each other. Barbara I will never forget you. To the family may God keep you during the difficult time. You had a beautiful Mother who will live on in your spirit forever. God Bless Regina
